Never Underestimate The Power Of A Dog's Love
In January, I saw an ad on Craigslist. It was a "dogs for free" ad it showed a single photo of a sickly looking dog laying in dirt and obvious squalor. He had the saddest look on his face. 

I remember when I saw the photo of this dog, it touched me.

A black and white Border Collie mix like our Rosie, who had since crossed to the Rainbow Bridge.  Rosie, with her pitter patter speckled paws, always on the pulse of the latest treat trends. Rosie, the teacher to other dogs on how to finagle multiple treats in a single sitting. In my mind, I asked our angel Rosie, to do what she could to help me...help that sad little dog. 
I contacted some Border Collie rescues and emailed them the CL ad, asking each one if there was anything their organization could do to help that poor sad dog. 

I got one response. A lady name Suzanne who runs an organization called Border Collies In Need. She told me that she was out of town at the time, but would respond to the ad about the dog.  
Later, she told me of the awful situation. One of the other dogs there had  been killed in a terrible way by a neighbor and the dog's owner could no longer care for, nor afford to feed his pets.  As a last resort, he posted the ad to see if anyone could take the dogs before they ended up at the animal shelter. Suzanne immediately sent someone out (over 80 miles from L.A. past Lancaster) to deliver bags of dog food. When Suzanne arrived back in town she drove all the way out there herself. She brought more food to leave for all of the other animals there, she also brought back 2 dogs.  Later, she worked with another organization to help all of the animals in need at that location.  She rescued that sad little guy and his brother from the squalor. 

Two Border Collie Heeler mix dogs who were practically feral.  She said they were going to need a lot of work. She took them in, bathed them, fed them, took them to the Vet, gave them medical care, had them fixed, worked with them and most importantly showed them love and care.  

Yep, Rosie (a rescue herself) had dispatched a real life angel to rescue two fellow Border Collie Heelers. Dogs just like her.  

Tonight, I went on Suzanne’s rescue site and immediately recognized Stevie as the dog I saw in that Craigslist ad that day in January.

I knew "Stevie" right away by that hint of sadness in his eyes. 

I think, he must be an old soul with good karma (now with Rosie as a guardian angel:) 

I know his life is better now and it's so good to hear that he and his brother are doing well. 

They love to play with squeaky toys! They are very handsome duck chuckers! Suzanne says they are going to invest in training for them.  That is good because they are special.

When I think of them now, I feel a happy heart. Tonight that means everything.    

I love them, and of course our very special Rosie. 

We lost our Rosabud exactly one year ago tonight…but look, obviously she’s still working!  

In honor of Rosie, let these two pups thrive alive in tribute to the Skool of Rosie in the sky!
